Why Neighbourhood Matters

Citywide stats hide huge neighbourhood variation. SF has 5,000 restaurants citywide, but SOMA has different dynamics than Mission.

How to Compare Neighbourhoods

Run the same search across multiple neighbourhoods:

"Coffee shops in SOMA" vs "Coffee shops in Mission" vs "Coffee shops in Castro".

Compare counts and ratings. Identify high-density (saturated) and low-density (opportunity).

The Quality Layer

High count + high average rating = mature, hard to enter without strong differentiation.

High count + low average rating = quality entrant has opportunity.

Low count + high average rating = expanded niche, may be saturated for that quality level.

Low count + low average rating = opportunity for quality entrant.
